Ballance House is located near Glenavy in county Antrim and is the restored birthplace of John Ballance, the 14th Premier of New Zealand. Restored in 1990 by the Ulster New Zealand Trust, visitors can look inside the nineteenth-century parlour of the Ballance family and explore exhibits focused on the history of the man but also the wider context of social and political life in Ulster and New Zealand in this period.
Ballance House is open from April to September, every Sunday (2 – 5 pm) and bank holidays (excluding 12 July). Tours of the house and exhibition area are available during these opening times. The Tea Barn will be open for light refreshments.
